Erectile dysfunction
Treatment of erectile dysfunction has been changed beyond all recognition in the last few decades. Safe and reliable treatment is now at hand for most men who need it.
An erection occurs when the brain, as a result of physical or psychological stimulation, sends signals to the penis that cause its blood vessels to relax. Blood flow to the penis increases, and blood becomes trapped within the corpora cavernosa, which expands and hardens, producing an erection.
Blood flow is central to achieving and maintaining erections. Erectile dysfunction (ED) is sometimes related to problems with circulation.
There are many reasons men get erectile dysfunction, and circulatory problems, although fairly common, are not the only reason. Read in full
It might seem strange to say that erectile dysfunction is one of the commonest medical conditions in men, however there’s actually quite a bit of truth to this statement. According to the National Health Service, about half of all men over the age of 40 will have problems obtaining or maintaining an erection at some point in their lives.
A healthy sex life is very important to most relationships; when something directly impacts this aspect of the partnership, it may seem catastrophic. There is one thing, however, that couples should always keep in mind when dealing with erectile dysfunction: it is usually treatable.

The person suffering from ED does not need more stress; increasing his stress levels can even make things worse.
Understanding, empathy, companionship and tolerance are fundamental to facing the condition and managing it correctly. It only makes sense that ED and other sexual health issues become much easier to cope with when you have the support of your spouse. Read in full

Depression

It also has physical effects: severe loss of libido, fatigue and sleep issues are among the most common. Read in full
Many millions of men have taken Viagra (sildenafil) repeatedly and regularly for up to 15 years, since it became available in 1998.
The concerns raised in this article are based on a single short term study in mice, which may not be relevant to humans. The mice study was carried out using very much higher doses than are taken in humans.
The side effects of medicines are monitored. There has been no reporting of widespread permanent damage to vision in men taking Viagra/sildenafil. There is no need for men to be alarmed as we discuss this is more detail. Read in full

Priapism is a medical condition in which the penis becomes continuously erect, and usually painful, for a prolonged period of a few hours or more. It is a medical emergency, which if untreated can lead to permanent damage to the penis. A single episode can affect the future capacity to achieve erections.
During an episode of priapism the shaft of the penis will be hard and sometimes painful. The head of the penis may remain soft. Read in full
Good news for men suffering from erectile dysfunction: sildenafil is now more widely available on the NHS in England (from 1 Aug 2014), although health managers previously advised limits of 4 tablets per month.
When Pfizer’s patent for Viagra expired in June 2013, the supply cost of sildenafil (the generic name for Viagra) was slashed from pounds to pennies. Since 1999 the availability of Viagra/sildenafil on the NHS has been subject to certain restrictions. Specifically, the drug was only available to male patients whose erectile dysfunction was associated with any of the following conditions:
Most men with erectile dysfunction take tablets known medically as PDE5 inhibitors. These include Viagra/sildenafil, Cialis/tadalafil, or Levitra/vardenafil. However there are some less familiar treatments, including some less well known PDE5 inhibitors tablets and a medicine known as alprostadil. Alprostadil comes as cream, insertable pellet or injection and works directly on the penis. Read in full
